Hilary Fenten Archive
Local photographer, Hilary Fenten, has captured a range of characters from the area who
work the land and provide local services throughout the Ingleborough Dales landscape. This
collection has been assembled to represent and record some of the areas diverse residents
by capturing a snapshot in time of the landscape’s social history.
Hilary Fenten has been living for over 25 years in Selside, a small hamlet almost at the top
of Ribblesdale in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The weather is often uncompromising,
rough and wet. When not taking photographs, Hilary devotes much of her time working to
help conserve and enhance our landscape. Her landscape interest, however, goes far
beyond the Dales and stretches right across the most beautiful areas in Europe.
