Large House on Gisburn Road, next to the Toll House.
This house is known as Close house, it was built around 1910 on the site of an old barn. The man on the right is Walker Parker, the brother of the grandmother of a local resident, John Pearcy. He was killed during the first world war in 1918 and is buried in Boulogne Eastern Cemetery in France. He is remembered on St. Aidans war memorial and on a plaque in the Methodist Chapel.
