The Great Flood

  • Hi, I am the daughter of one of the scout leaders. My cousin and I were woken by flood water in my tent (age 5) and I remember standing in the dark as the water rose up above my waist, my eldest brother carried me up to the minibus were I waited frightened while everyone rescued the scouts and whatever equipment they could. The other young scout leaders children, and our mothers where taken to a large house to stay. I remember a beautiful dolls house but I’m afraid the shock had made me very sick. Later on when the floods subsided we visited the camping field and there were boulders where the tents had been.
