Found the story of William Perkin, the ‘naughty’ sexton at Settle Parish Church, very enlightening. He is my third great grandfather.
His grandson, William Henry Perkin(s), my great grandfather, always said that we were really Perkin, and I have documents that show this. The ‘s’ appeared with William Henry and his children are all Perkins – as am I.
