West Barn
West Barn, Friars Garth
West Barn was converted to a dwelling in 1998 by Dales Contracts Ltd. From two linked barns which formed part of the Friars Garth Farmstead, owned and farmed by Mr Phillip Harrison. The larger barn formerly called Low Barn is believed to be about 200 years old and the smaller one about 300 years old. Between the two barns was a small lean-to containing a three seater earth closet, which was demolished to make room for the present link which is larger. Other more recent structures which were demolished during the conversion include a milking parlour and out buildings, a shippon on the south side of the main barn and other buildings to the west of the main barn
