Beck Hall
Beck Hall
The origin of Beck Hall seems to be the subject of speculation, because although it stands in East Malham which was the property of Bolton Priory, it is thought to have belonged to the monks of Fountains Abbey, who owned West Malham. Raistrick speculates that while Malham Hall was the principal Grange of Fountains, Beck Hall or Old Hall was their second house, probably the residence of the farm bailiff or other lesser officials. The windows in the present buildings were enlarged in the late 18th or early 19th century. It is said to have been the Dower House of Malham Tarn House for some time. Today Beck Hall is used as a guest house
