In 1851 Census, James H is 2 and living with his parents at Litton
In 1861 Census, James is 12 and living at Otterburn Hall with his farming father and mother James and Ann, and his brothers and sisters William, Ann, Jane, Mary and Elizabeth
By 1881 Census James the father had died leaving Ann, James H, Robert, Annie and Mary at Kirk Syke and they were still there in the 1891 census.
By 1901 Census James, Annie and Mary had moved to Hanlith Hall and were living on their own means.
In 1911 Census, Charles Rickards lived at Kirk Syke and probably owned the farm. Rickards had owned the silk mill in nearby Bell Busk and possibly sold it to Dewhurst’s in Skipton
