WW1 - Pre War exercise
The 2nd West Yorkshire Artillery Volunteers travelled by train to Skipton from their HQ in Bradford, Halifax and Heckmondwyke , then marched via Long Preston with guns and waggons towed by steam traction engines, via Long Preston and Settle to Bentham.
Captain E.H. Foster ( seen in photograph LPHG – LPA/003/015) commanded the steam battery, Colonel Hoffman V D commanded the march.
