Belisha Crossing
The first application for a Belisha Pedestrian Crossing was applied for in the February of 1936. The crossings to be sited at Station Road top. The Fountain and at the Old Post Office at the bottom of Rattan Row, West End.
In July of 1936 the Pedestrian Crossings were not approved, they got a NO from the West Riding CC Highways Department.
Two crossings were approved at a later date, one at the Fountain, where the present Pelican crossing is now sited and the second one near to the station road junction.
These two crossings were removed in the 1950s.
