The Iron Bridge at Long Preston, 1948
The Iron Bridge at Long Preston, 1948.
The Iron Bridge was over the Long Preston beck on the way to the Gas Works, Brooklands and Riversdale Houses. The old bridge got into a state of disrepair and was removed by North Eastern Gas Board in the late 1980’s.
The photograph was taken c. 1947 – 48 when repairs and a repaint for Mrs Roberts of Brooklands were being carried out by Throup’s of Long Preston. The workmen who did the repairs and painting were W.E Kayley, R.V. Astley and R. Slater.
