This was a view that Jack Myers returned to on several occasions. Being given a helping hand across a ford in Littondale JMC/001/004 In his later years, Jack Myers was a passionate advocate for access to the countryside. He invested in robust all-terrain mobility scooters, and, with the help of friends, he tackled most of the bridleways in the North Craven area. Here he is being given a helping hand across a ford on a track in Littondale. Looking South along Raven Scar JMC/001/006 This striking view looking along Raven Scar is just one of many photos of geological features in the Ingleborough area. Typical carboniferous landscape above Chapel-le-Dale JMC/001/007 Jack Myers had enormous enthusiasm for the landscapes of the north Pennines, judging by the thousands of photos he took – like this one, of a typical Carboniferous Limestone land forms above Chapel-le-Dale. Looking across Killington Lake to the Howgills JMC/001/009 This is one of several photos taken of the Howgills from across Killington Lake. In this instance, in early 1971, the Howgills are snow covered. Negotiating a track on his mobility scooter JMC/001/010 Jack Myers campaigned for the improvement of tracks to enable access for all, including by mobility scooter. Camping out with friends and colleagues JMC/001/011 Jack Myers spent a lot of his time exploring the landscapes of North Craven and further afield in the North Pennines. He was both a climber and a speleologist. It is not clear if he is actually in this undated photo; if he is, then it must have been taken some time before 1959, when ... Wild camping JMC/001/012 Jack Myers out camping, possibly a field trip. Jack Myers camping with van JMC/001/013 This image of Jack Myers out camping is presumably prior to his contracting polio in 1953. We don’t know why the chair is there. Jack Myers with colleague and cars JMC/001/015 Jack Myers with colleague and two cars Contrails JMC/001/016 Jack Myers was a keen photographer, taking pictures of all that caught his attention while out in the landscape, be it flowers, rock formations or, as in this case, a dramatic sky with contrails. Event with vehicles JMC/001/017 It is not clear what is bringing all these vehicles together, nor when it happened nor where they are! But with Pen-y-Ghent in the distance, and the flanks of Ingleborough in mid-distance, it could be near Clapham. Access restricted thru foot and mouth JMC/001/018 During the outbreak of foot & mouth disease in 2002, access along public paths and open moors was restricted to prevent the spread of the virus.
