Brayshaw's Great War Scrap Books
These seven volumes of material collected by Thomas Brayshaw document the Great War and its immediate aftermath as it impacted on Settle and the surrounding townships. The volumes are arranged in rough chronological order so that volume one is mainly concerned with the outbreak of war in 1914, volumes two to six the conduct of the war and volume seven the end of the war, peace celebrations and the arrangements made to commemorate the fallen.
Volumes one to four were digitised some years ago and the images are of varying quality. Volumes five to seven have been digitised using more advanced equipment. However, the volumes presented a challenge to digitise because of the way in which they had originally been assembled so not all material may be legible.
The original volumes may be consulted on application to the archivist at Giggleswick School.
